A huge night for a former first round pick.

Monday will be a big night for one rookie forward.

A report from the Calgary Flames' official website has revealed that Mark Jankowski, the Flames 2012 first round draft pick, will finally make his National Hockey League debut when the Flames take on the New York Islanders. The Flames currently sit just three points ahead of last place Arizona in their division, and the hope appears to be that Jankowski can bring a spark to their forward group, something head coach seemingly confirmed.

"Any young guy that comes up, he's got to play with some energy," said Flames coach Glen Gulutzan. "That's what you hope when you put a guy in the lineup because you're taking somebody out that's played probably most of the year ... sometimes it's all warm and fuzzy and we want this to be a big thing - and your first NHL game is a big thing - but he's got to come in and provide energy."

Jankowski picked up 12 points in his 13 games with the American Hockey League's Stockton Heat, and if he's able to translate any of that to the NHL level he will be a welcome addition to the Calgary roster.
