Fans in Calgary have to be happy with the work their organization has done thus far in the offseason, and on Thursday the Flames made another big time move.

While there were reportedly a large number of National Hockey League teams with interest in signing veteran Kris Versteeg, the Flames managed to get the deal done prior to the start of free-agency on July 1st.

According to a report from TSN insider Darren Dreger the Calgary Flames and Versteeg have agreed to terms on a one-year contract that will pay Versteeg $1.75 million next season .

Versteeg is coming off a 37 point season with the Flames, and it's clear Calgary felt he could continue to be a strong contributor to their roster, and possibly even a mentor for their young group.
