The latest piece from Josh Yohe of The Athletic was heartbreaking to read… It revealed how devastated Vegas Golden Knights star goalie Marc-Andre Fleury has been since the death of his father, Andre.

Teammates and staff members in Vegas acknowledge that Fleury hasn’t been himself in recent weeks. He tries to stay busy, but explained how the quiet times are the hardest to handle.

“The quiet moments are so tough,” he said. “On the bus, or on the plane. Those moments, you know … I think the thing is, my dad was always a part of it. He loved hockey so much, loved watching me play so much. It’s always there.”

Flower also revealed that he has yet to open up about his grief, to friends and teammates. Friend and teammate Deryk Engelland will be there when Fleury will be ready to speak.

“We’ll all be there for him,” he said. “If he needs to talk about it, we’ll talk. One of these nights, I’m going to take him out for a beer.”

Fans across the NHL have been feeling for Fleury, who is loved everywhere he goes. He recently turned down the league’s invitation to the All-Star Game as it is clear he needs to be with family and take the time to heal… even if it’s just a bit.

“It’s tough,” he said. “I’m doing my best. Hopefully, time will make me better.”
