On Nov. 26., we found out why Marc-Andre Fleury has left the Vegas Golden Knights’ organization on a personal leave as it was sadly revealed that his father Andre past away at age 63.

Fleury finally joined his teammates over the weekend and made his first start in more than two weeks Tuesday when the Golden Knights hosted the Chicago Blackhawks.

He was just one goal short of a shoutout, guiding his team to a 5-1 win over Chicago. AP News believes that despite the fact Fleury has enjoyed many big moments during his career, this one might have been the most emotional.

When public address announcer Bruce Cusick introduced him to a crowd of 18,319 right before puck drop, Fleury was stunned by the long ovation he received. He felt their energy and support.

“I was away for a while. It’s always nice to get that feeling when I get back on the ice,” said Fleury after the win. “The first game, always a little worried to see how things are going to go, and I want to do well for the team. Took me a few minutes to get going, but the more the game went on, I felt better. The guys in front played very good. I’m just happy we got the win.”

Fleury also admitted he thought about his father a lot throughout the game.

“I got to think about him a bunch,” Fleury said afterward, doing his best to keep his emotions in check. “I tried to keep (the pregame routine) the same. I’ve been doing this for a while, none of that changed too much. But, it’s definitely more emotional.”

It would have been nice for the Golden Knights to help their goalie get the shoutout, but we are pretty sure a win feels just as sweet.

And we bet Andre Fleury was looking over his shoulder - or glove for that matter.
