Do not mess with Flower!

He may have not started for the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 2 and Game 3 but Marc-Andre Fleury knows every little thing can help his team get over the Dallas Stars and into the Stanley Cup finals. So, while he cannot help in between the pipes, he will find other ways to get to the opposing players.

We saw exactly how Flower makes those efforts and how great of a team player he really is even if Robin Lehner is the main goalie that the Golden Knights trust in the postseason. Fleury has found other ways to get to Stars forwards Tyler Seguin and Corey Perry.

It has been known around the National Hockey League that Seguin has the superstition to be the last player off the ice after warmups, which he finishes by shooting a puck in the opposite net. We’ve seen how important this superstition has become for the 28-year-old when he fought it out in a Rock, Paper, Scissors match with Mark Scheifele of the Winnipeg Jets to determine who would get off last.

Seguin seems to believe that the superstition will help him have a better game and always looks to be the last one on the ice and to score in the net at the other end of the rink. He is not the only one looking to score in the opposite net: Perry also needs to shoot there before getting off the ice before the game.

That’s where Flower comes in and plays mind games. As pointed out by Ron McLean on Sportsnet Thursday night, Fleury made sure his rival players didn’t have the chance to shoot in his team’s net. He removed the net, flipped it the other way so it faced the boards and left the ice, stopping both Seguin and Perry from doing their superstitious goal before the contest.

This made us smile. Fleury is just the type of teammate you want on your side.
