Florida's new coach may already be getting disrespected by his players.

Wow! A very bad start for the GM who decided to take his coaches place.

The Florida Panthers shocked the hockey world when they fired their head coach Gerard Gallant after a rough stfart in 2016-207, this despite the fact he was coming off leading the Panthers to their best regular season record ever.

The players appear to have been shocked as well, and there may now be signs that the firing of Gallant may have been an extremely unpopular decision within the Panthers locker room.

During a segment on 91.9 Sports today radio personality Jean-Charles Lajoie revealed that the entirity of the Panthers roster was asked to come in the day after Gallant was fired to meet with their new head coach, Tom Rowe, who is technically still the organizations general manager. Despite the fact that most of the players likely already had some form of a relationship with Rowe, it has been reported that the majority of players refused to attend that meeting.

It's unclear how many players comprise that majority, but it's certainly not the level of respect you want when taking over as a head coach at the highest level of the sport, and it's further indication that Gallant was beloved by his players.

This decision may already be backfiring for Florida.
