The Philadelphia Flyers completed just the one move on Monday, and it was a big one. They ended up sending Wayne Simmonds to the Nashville Predators for Ryan Hartman and a draft pick and then, they called it a day.

However, the phone was ringing quite a bit in Philly as The Fourth Period reported that new GM Chuck Fletcher received inquiries on winger Michael Raffl, defenceman Radko Gudas and Shayne Gostisbehere, and goaltenders Brian Elliott and newly-acquired Cam Talbot. The latter was acquired on Feb 15 from the Edmonton Oilers, however it is believed that he was almost moved once again at the deadline.

According to a league source who spoke to TFP, Fletcher had held talks to acquire a true No.1 goaltender with term left on his contract to help mentor star rookie netminder Carter Hart.

This should surprise many seeing that Talbot was reportedly brought in for this exact reason, seeing that his relationship with Hart would assist in mentoring him. However, the Flyers face an issue with this one: Talbot can become an unrestricted free agent July 1 and he’s yet to suit-up for Philly since being acquired.

The good news here is that he is expected to start for the Flyers tonight against the New Jersey Devils.

The Flyers might have inquired about Los Angeles Kings goalie Jonathan Quick at the deadline, who generated interest from multiple teams and has a strained relationship with interim head coach Willie Desjardins at the moment.

The 33-year-old netminder had four-years left on his contract after this season and comes with a salary cap hit of $5.8 million.

Philadelphia might have also looked at Detroit Red Wings' goalie Jimmy Howard, but he too is in the final-year of his contract and can become an unrestricted free agent July 1.

The market could be an interesting avenue for the Flyers this summer, if ever they decide to ONCE AGAIN attempt to fix their situation in between the pipes, however, something needs to happen so they can get it under control...
