Flyers big offseason signing will be riding the bench tonight.

This summer's big free agent signing hasn't lived up to the expectations.

The Philadelphia Flyers made a big move in the offseason and thus far it doesn't appear to have worked in their favor.

According to a report from Flyers' insider Sam Carchidi of Philly.com, the team has made the decision to bench veteran forward Dale Weise after his ice time as dropped steadily since returning from injury.

Weise has failed to find significant production offensively this despite the fact that the Flyers' recently found themselves on a huge winning streak. In fact in 29 games this season with the organization he has just 2 goals and 2 assists for four total points and a plus minus rating of 0 on the season.

It's been a rough season for Weise since signing his $9.4 million dollar deal, and it seems likely that the motivation here is to send a message to Weise that he just has not been good enough, hopefully with the end goal of motivating him to improve his performance.
