Flyers call up 2 players and demote another on Sunday afternoon.

The Philadelphia Flyers have made significant line up changes.

According to an official report from the team's official website the Flyers have made no fewer than 3 roster moves ahead of their Monday match up against the struggling Edmonton Oilers. Coming up from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the American Hockey League will be both talented young goaltender Carter Hart as well as forward Mikhail Vorobyev. Going back the other way will be veteran forward Dale Weise who has been demoted off the main roster and will be sent to the American Hockey League.

The move to bring back Hart is an obvious one and it appears that the initial decision to send him down to the American Hockey League was purely motivated by the organization's desire to keep him playing during the National Hockey League's All Star break. Hart was sent down to the AHL on Thursday night and played in just one game for the Phantoms. In that game Hart stopped 32 of the 35 shots he faced in a 4 - 1 loss although you could hardly blame Hart for that defeat. In spite of some struggles early in the start of his NHL career there is no question that Hart has been by far the best goaltender on the Flyers roster this season. Over the course of his first 12 career games he has picked up 6 wins and boasts a 2.66 goals against average and a .918 save percentage. Initially the decision to bring Hart up to the NHL level appeared to be something of a gamble given the fact that he had struggled in the AHL to start the season, but the boost of confidence the call up has given him has paid major dividends for the Flyers thus far.

For Vorobyev it's a big shot to prove himself once again after he initially appeared to have made the main roster to start the season. He would only last 7 games however before being sent down, but that was under a different head coach so no doubt the Flyers will be hopeful he will seize the opportunity this time around.

Weise cleared waivers earlier this month and has largely been reduced to a role player for the Flyers at this stage. It's unclear if the Flyers intend to keep him down at the AHL level or if they are merely trying to motivate him back into shape before bringing him back up to the main roster. Vorobyev's performance, as well as the eventual return of Claude Giroux from the All Star Game, could prove to be key factors in that decision.
