Things are heating up!

Chatter is getting so loud, it feels like P.K. Subban's ears will be ringing all summer long.

Due to his $ 9 million contract per year, the Nashville Predators may want to get rid of Subban in order to have more leeway under the salary cap. The veteran blue liner still has three more seasons to his current deal and it has been reported many times that the Preds will need to make heartbreaking choices ahead of the 2020 draft for the new Seattle expansion.

While Subban hopes to be part of the solution in Nashville after a quick playoff elimination, he also knows he could be pushed on the trade block.

“If I'm talking facts, I'm the highest-paid player on this team and with that comes a responsibility. Just like everybody else, the responsibility is on me to take the fact that we didn't win the first round, we didn't get out of the first round and we didn't want to accomplish what we wanted to accomplish. I hope I'm a part of the solution. I hope that I can be here and be part of that, but at the same token I'm prepared to understand that this organization deserves and demands the best, and they should.”

Fans are trying to guess where Subban could end up, and while the Toronto Maple Leafs and Vancouver Canucks have previously come out, it seems like another team could be in the running. Flyers insider Sam Carchidi believes Philadelphia could have the perfect trade pitch to land the popular defenseman.

Carchidi believes that the Flyers might have the upper hand on rival teams to land Subban if he does become available on the trade market.

"[Chuck] Fletcher does have a close relationship with Nashville GM David Poile. They have known each other for 47 years, and Poile got his big break in 1972, when Fletcher’s father, Cliff, hired him as a 22-year-old administrative assistant with the expansion Atlanta Flames. Five years later, he made Poile an assistant general manager.

Chuck Fletcher and Poile made a deal at the trade deadline this year, as the Flyers sent Wayne Simmonds to the Predators for right winger Ryan Hartman and a fourth-round draft pick."

The insider adds that one player, who was coached by Peter Laviolette before he ended in Nashville, could catch the attention of the bench boss and GM and could make this possible for both teams: Jakub Voracek.

New Flyers head coach Alain Vigneault has openly admitted to being a huge fan of Subban and might encourage Fletcher to add him to his roster.

“He’s a dynamic player,” Vigneault said of Subban on Wednesday. “He’s got a great skill set and a lot of energy. He’s shown he’s one of the best defensemen in the NHL, and he competes so hard.”

We might be getting closer to a deal, folks...
