Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher provides a heartbreaking update on Nolan Patrick

The offseason has officially begun for the Philadelphia Flyers, but for the first time in a long time there appears to be lots to be excited about if you're a Flyers fans. The team was just one win away from advancing to the Eastern Conference Final and there are plenty reasons for optimism heading into the 2020-21 season. Sophomore goalie Carter Hart emerged as a legitimate starting goaltender and is arguably the best young goaltender in the entire NHL. Travis Konecny absolutely EXPLODED offensively and led the team in scoring with 24 goals and 61 points in 66 games. Oskar Lindblom not only defeated cancer (!!!) this season, but he also established himself as a big part of this team's core moving forward. Between Hart, Konecny and Lindblom, this team's future core seems to be coming together.

Unfortunately, it's not all wine and roses concerning the Flyers' young core though. Former 2nd overall pick Nolan Patrick did not play a game this entire season due to an undiagnosed migraine issue. And here's the bad news... the Flyers aren't even sure if Patrick will be able to suit up in 2020-21.

Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher provided an update on Patrick's health earlier today and would only say that they're hoping that he'll be about to play "at some point" next season. That doesn't sound good...

Check it out:

Nolan Patrick is feeling better, he's living mostly a normal life, per Chuck Fletcher. Continues to improve and the Flyers are counting on him playing at some point next season.

Oof... that's tough to hear. This kid has been through the ringer so far in his NHL career. Shoulder injuries, knee injuries, migraine issues... it seemingly never ends. This kid is due for a streak of some good luck.

His migraine issue is truly strange though. Unlike a broken bone or a muscle strain, there's no way to predict how a migraine disorder will play out. It was reported earlier in the season that Patrick had been skating on his own and working on skills development during his "good days", but since then there's been no real update on his status. Here's hoping the kid can turn this corner and get his career back on track.
