Flyers lose forward for much longer than projected.

Bad news for Philadelphia.

The Philadelphia Flyers appear to have misjudged the injury to forward Michael Raffl.

According to a report from multiple sources, including Flyers' insider Sam Carchidi, the Flyers' have now placed Raffl on long-term injured reserve, this depsite the fact that the initial projections on his injury only had him missing 10-14 days.

A designation on long-term injured reserve means he will be missing at least days games and 24 days as a result of his injury, a significantly worse diagnosis especially when you consider that a week has already passed since the original projection.

We don't have more details at this time, but considering the drastic change we expect more to come soon.

Update: Initial reports appears to have been mistaken, Raffl was not placed on long-term injured reserve, only normal injured reserve, which forces an absence of just 7 days rather than 24, putting this more in line with the original diagnosis.
