Flyers prospect Strome has beautiful goal called back after arena lights shut off!

Philadelphia Flyers prospect Matthew Strome is having a tremendous campaign with the OHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs this season, potting 17 goals and 46 points through his team’s first 40 games. This past Sunday though, Strome was victim of one of the strangest no goal calls we’ve ever seen in junior hockey.

With the Bulldogs up 2-1 midway through the game Strome was hauled down on a breakaway and, as a result, he was awarded a penalty shot. Strome scored an absolutely BEAUTY, but the goal was disallowed… why?

Well, see for yourself:

Due to the malfunctioning arena lights, Strome’s goal was disallowed but he was allowed to essentially re-take his penalty shot. On his second attempt he was stonewalled… no goal. WTF!?

To make matters worse, the Niagara IceDogs stormed back to win the game by a score of 6-5 in the shootout. Ouch.
