Former 1st round pick and top prospect signs new deal

The New Jersey Devils have announced that they’ve re-signed former Ottawa Senators first round pick Stefan Noesen to a one year, two-way deal worth $660,000.

The 24-year-old forward was originally drafted 21st overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft by the Sens, but was traded to the Anaheim Ducks along with Jakob Silfverberg and a first round pick for Bobby Ryan. He was picked up by the Devils last season after being placed on waivers by the Ducks.

In 32 games with the Devils in 2016-17, Noesen scored six goals and eight points. The native of Plano, Texas has had a difficult time sticking at the NHL level, but has proven himself to be a reliable point producer in the AHL. His new one year “show me" deal should go a long way in determining whether his future will be in the NHL or AHL.
