The 2018 and 2019 pending free agents are being watched so closely that any rumors concerning one of them is looked at, analyzed and discussed over lunch. Especially with these free agents to be are Los Angeles Kings' Drew Doughty and New York Islanders' John Tavares.
Two of the best in the League in their respective position, Doughty and Tavares are expected to land huge contracts, but no one knows if it will be with their current respective teams or elsewhere on the market.
If you ask former NHL first round pick Zach Boychuk; he will tell you up front. Both star players are heading to Toronto.
It is not the first time we hear rumors of either player going to the Maple Leafs, as Tavares's name has been mentioned quite a few times in trade chatter in Toronto.
The possibility of acquiring Doughty came when the defenseman himself noted that the Leafs need a quality defender to be a true Stanley Cup champion contender. Many people the London, ONT native might be looking to head back close to home.
For what it's worth, Boychuck certainly thinks it will happen.
How about you?
