Former NHL defenseman Tom Gilbert, who played in the NHL for many years before spending last season in the AHL, has decided to take his game overseas. The 34 year-old blue liner who was last seen in the NHL wearing a Los Angeles Kings jersey will be playing in Germany in 2017-18.
Gilbert signed a deal with the Nuremberg Ice Tigers of the Deutsche Eishockey (DEL). Gilbert played in over 600 career NHL games split between the Edmonton Oilers, Minnesota Wild, Florida Panthers, Montreal Canadiens, and the Kings. He once had a season high 45 points with the Oilers during the 2008-2009 NHL season.
