Former Columbus Blue Jackets, Arizona Coyotes and Edmonton Oilers forward Gilbert Brule has been traded in the KHL from Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk to Traktor Chelyabinsk in exchange for... cash. Essentially Brule was sold for nothing.

Ouch, what a fall from grace for the former top prospect. Bruce was drafted 6th overall in the NHL Entry Draft just one spot behind Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price and five spots behind Pittsburgh Penguins superstar Sidney Crosby. Brule had one breakout season with the Oilers during the 2009-2010 season with 37 points in 65 games, but failed to improve on those numbers through the rest of his NHL career.

He eventually left the NHL in 2012 for Europe and has stayed there since. Brule was a point per game player in the KHL last season with Nizhnekamsk, so it will be interesting to see how his career continues in Chelyabinsk.
