National Hockey League fans were saddened when Arizona Coyotes captain Shane Doan announced his retirement a few weeks ago. But according to TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun, he won't be missed for too too long.

Doan could be headed for a role in the NHL's front office as he has been in contact with the league regarding a position in the hockey operations department. LeBrun added that his role, if an agreement is made, would fall under Colin Campbell, the NHL's director of hockey operations.

After hanging up the skates, it was believed that Doan would look to play for Team Canada at the 2018 Olympic Games. However, the 40-year-old recently hinted that his hockey career on the international stage might be over.

LeBrun said Doan could join the NHL offices in the coming weeks.

Doan will undoubtedly go down in history as his team’s all-time greatest player. He’s  the Coyotes all-time leader in games played (1,540), goals (402), assists (570) and points (972). Good luck in retirement and congratulations on an outstanding career, Shane!
