Nail Yakupov's NHL career has been a bumpy ride so far to say the least. The Edmonton Oilers had great hope for this russian native as they picked him instead of Ryan Murray, a shutdown defensemen, who would have been the logical choice at the time given Edmonton's defense.
A few days before the start of the season, Peter Chiarelli gave up on Yakupov and traded him to the Saint-Louis Blues for a 3rd round pick and Zach Pochiro, currently in the east coast league.
After a strong first impression with the Blues, Yakupov is now scoreless in his last 5 games cumulating only 4 shots during that sequence. Saint-Louis head coach Ken Hitchcock decided to take Yakupov out of the lineup for Ryan Reaves.
Looks like Yakupov haven't found a place to call home, yet.
