Florida Panthers general manager Dale Tallon has announced that the team has promoted former captain Bryan McCabe to the position of director of player personnel.

McCabe has worked for the Panthers organization for 5 years, mostly in a player development role. In his new position, he’ll be directly under the team’s general manager Tallon and will receive the opportunity to groom himself for a manager position himself.

The 42-year-old suited up for six NHL franchises over the course of his 16-year career, including three seasons in Florida between 2008-11 when he served as the team's sixth captain in franchise history.

The 42 year-old McCabe played 16 years and over 1100 games in the NHL tallying 145 goals and 528 points along the way.
