Former NHL captain reportedly dead at just 48 years old

According to multiple online reports, former Nashville Predators captain Greg Johnson has passed away at just 48 years old.

Former National Hockey League player and Thunder Bay native Greg Johnson, 48, passed away on Monday in Detroit, according to friends close to the family.

Johnson, a native of Thunder Bay, Ontario, played 785 games split between the Preds, Chicago Blackhawks, Pittsburgh Penguins and Detroit Red Wings. He amassed 145 career goals and 369 career points.

USA Today is reporting that the cause of death has not been disclosed.
