A former National Hockey League enforcer may have just landed himself in some serious trouble.

For the second time in as many weeks the National Hockey League now finds itself embroiled in a scandal involved cocaine, a recreational drug of abuse that has long been rumored to be a favorite among the professional athletes that play in the league. Last week it was Washington Capitals star forward Evgeny Kuznetsov who shocked the world when he received a 4 year ban for testing positive on a drug test from the International Ice Hockey Federation, and now a Washington Capitals alumni has been arrested in a similar situation.

According to French language a report from Radio-Canada's Yannick Bergeron it now appears as though former NHL enforcer Donald Brashear has been arrested for what is being described as possession of cocaine and criminal mischief. Brashear was reportedly in Des Chatels, Quebec when police where called after he allegedly broke a window. We do not know why Brashear broke the window or where this particular window was located, however we do know that when officers arrived on the scene they discovered that Brashear was in possession of an illegal substance. I suspect that the criminal mischief charge stems from the broken window here, however at this time that is only speculation on my part as we have yet to receive official confirmation.

Brashear will now have to appear in court to contest these charges, a date that is scheduled for the 4th of September, and it is unclear what type of punishment he is currently facing. Needless to say regardless of how things turn out here this is a bad look for Brashear, who has been retired from the NHL since 2010, and it is a bad look for the NHL given the fact that this is now the second cocaine related incident in just the last several days to tarnish the league's reputation.

In spite of playing in an enforcer type role for a large portion of his career Brashear had a very respectable NHL career appearing in over 1000 games split between the Montreal Canadiens, Vancouver Canucks, Philadelphia Flyers, Washington Capitals and New York Rangers. Over that stretch he recorded 85 goals, 120 assists for 205 total points and a staggering 2634 penalty minutes.
