Former NHL great passes away far too young on Monday.

We unfortunately have some sad news to start the week.

A report from TSN's James Mirtle has announced that former National Hockey League great Tom Lysiak, passed away on Monday morning far too young at the age of 63.

Lysiak played in the NHL up until 1986 and will still be fondly remembered by modern NHL fans, especially in Chicago where he spent the final eight seasons of his NHL career. As an NHL forward he recorded 292 goals, 551 assists for a very impressive total of 843 points in his 919 career NHL games.

Lysiak was on the verge of watching his son in law Justin Braun play for the Stanley Cup alongside the San Jose Sharks, which makes the timing of his passing all that more sad.

Our thoughts are with Tom's family in this most difficult of times.
