The National Hockey League's decision to forgo the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in South Korea, as well as their decision to forbid players under NHL contract to participate in those games has left the door wide open for other players.

With that in mind one former NHL veteran took the opportunity on Monday to let USA Hockey know that he would be willing to participate in the upcoming Winter Olympic Games.

"I'm considering the idea of playing men's league hockey this fall for exercise," said former NHL forward Patrick O'Sullivan. " Anyone in the Toronto area send your best offer."

That's when he opened the door for Olympic participation.

"And maybe the olympics."

O'Sullivan is a veteran of 330 NHL games, and while he is both 32-years-old and a few years removed from playing in the league, with no NHL player's eligible for the Olympics this may be an offer USA Hockey as to seriously consider.
