Former NHLer Jonas Hiller calls it a career

After 18 seasons, including nine in the NHL, the man many consider to be the greatest goaltender ever to come out of Switzerland is hanging up his pads. Jonas Hiller's current team, HC Biel-Bienne of Switzerland’s National League, made the announcement earlier today.

Translation: Jonas Hiller is rightly considered one of the greatest goalkeepers in the history of Swiss ice hockey. With him we have reached the playoffs four times in a row...Goodbye and a huge Merci!

Hiller, now 38, signed with his first NHL team as a free agent in 2007, the Anaheim Ducks. He would play there for seven season, hitting a career high of 73 games in the 2011-12 season, when he was also names an NHL All-Star. Following that, he spent two seasons in Calgary, before returning to his home country. 

Hiller's NHl career ended with a 197-140-37 record, 2.51 goals-against average and .916 save percentage. He would also represent Switzerland in three separate Winter Olympics (2010, 2014, 2018), leading all goalies at the 2018 Games in GAA (1.14) and SVV% (.956).
