Former NHLer Mark Fraser slams Ottawa owner Eugene Melnyk

The veteran enforcer calls playing for Melnyk, “the worst experience in my 13 year professional career.”

It’s been a rough week for Ottawa Senators fans…

Not only has the team parted ways with star players like Matt Duchene, Mark Stone and Ryan Dzingel, but owner Eugene Melnyk was also blamed for killing a potential arena deal slated for the LeBreton Flat area of downtown Ottawa.

When news of the ill-fated LeBreton Flats deal became public yesterday Sens fans took to social media and the #MelnykOut hashtags were out in full force. One of those angry fans just so happened to be former NHLer Mark Fraser, an Ottawa native.

Fraser, who played a season with the Sens franchise in the AHL was asked by a fan what it was like to play for a Melnyk run organization and… well let’s just say he summed it up pretty succinctly:



Ouch. Here’s hoping more former Sens players come out of the woodwork and hold Melnyk’s feet to the fire. With enough public outcry, maybe we can get a new owner in Ottawa.
