On July 7, former New York Rangers defenseman Kevin Klein announced his retirement from the NHL. It turns out it only lasted a week, as he will be playing next season in the Swiss National League A.

According to Swiss scout Dennis Schellenberg, Klein agreed to a one-year deal with Zurich SC Lions

Incommoded with constant back injuries, Klein missed the first three games of the past season and played only 60 regular games with the Rangers as well as one post-season game. Playing in Europe will put less pressure on his back issues as the Swiss league schedule is far more easy than the NHL's.

A former Nashville Predators second-round pick, Klein played 10 seasons in Smashville before being traded to the Rangers for defenseman Micheal Del Zotto in January 2014.

Klein amassed 38 goals and 154 points in 627 NHL games.
