Former NHLer Versteeg signs a new deal overseas

Former NHLer and Stanley Cup champion Kris Versteeg has signed a contract with the Växjö Lakers of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) for the remainder of the season. Versteeg had signed with Omsk Avangard of the KHL this past offseason but left the team just 11 games into the season due to a debilitating illness.



Versteeg last played in the NHL just last season with the Calgary Flames and has 149 goals and 358 points in 643 games split between the Chicago Blackhawks, Toronto Maple Leafs, Philadelphia Flyers, Florida Panthers, Caroline Hurricanes and Los Angeles Kings.
