Former Oiler rips Edmonton media apart

The Edmonton Oilers are not meeting the expectations that were placed on their shoulders after they had an impressive playoff run last spring. Now, the Oilers sit 29th in the league with a 8-13-2 record, and the media has been blaming GM Peter Chiarelli, coach Todd McLellan and even superstar player Connor McDavid for  the club's woes.

When asked about his former club and their struggles, New York Islanders forward Jordan Eberle, who knows quite a bit about Edmonton, did not waste time to defend his former teammates, and even ripped the local media apart.

The Edmonton media can be pretty brutal and your confidence goes and this is a game you can’t play if you don’t have confidence,” Eberle said to Sportsnet. “It’s that simple. It’s the Edmonton Oilers and everything around it. When you read articles every day about how much you suck, it’s tough.”

The top forward even added that you simply cannot ignore them.

It affects you and I lost my confidence. The biggest thing for me since I got here with the Islanders, is trying to get that back.”

So, the Edmonton media is not doing the right team to help the club, according to Eberle. Many many good words are needed to boost the team's confidence and motivate them to win a game.
