The history of the Oilers is rich of amazing and dedicated players who left everything on the ice, day in and day out.

Ryan Smyth was one of them and Edmonton's fan remember him vividly. He was a member of the team through the tough years, before the McDavid and Eberle's renaissance.

Even if he left the NHL a few years ago, he still plays hockey at the very respectable age of 41 years old. Granted, it's in a Senior AAA league, but the guy undoubtedly love the sport.

However, a terrific hit was delivered on him yesterday and he had to be carried of the ice of a stretcher. He felll to the ice and didn't move until the EMT took care of him. We don't have images to show you though, as this league is not covered by major media networks.

The team had to publish a letter explaining the situation.

Smyth looks like he's okay now.

Get well soon, captain Canada!
