Patrick Maroon and Zack Kassian are buddies. Off the ice. The two former Oilers teammates reportedly spent Monday night together, according to Sportsnet along with captain Connor McDavid, however it was a different game on Tuesday when Edmonton faced off against the Blues in St. Louis.

The Blues crushed the Oilers in a 7-2 win, but the attention was focused on Maroon and Kassian, who ended up dropping the gloves at centre ice in a spirited fight.

Some Oilers fans were upset to see Maroon pounding his former teammate, however, you have to admit that the fight is intense and quite exciting. Hockey players get it: we are friends - when we are not facing one another on the ice.

Overall, despite the humiliating loss, it was quite an intense night for the Oilers. Milan Lucic was ejected from the game for cross-checking with just over five minutes remaining.

The Blues outshot the Oilers 44-17.

Buddies became foes.

But we are sure they are still friends… off the ice.
