Former Sens defenseman now ready to test the market.

Each year, the UFA market brings tons of surprises around the league. For some guys, it's a chance to get a fresh start under a new sun while for others, it's a good timing to run for the bank. Every player has his own story and it's quite interesting to follow most of the time.

Sens defenseman Jared Cowen had a tough season in 2015-2016. He played less than optimally for 37 games before being traded to Toronto in the Dion Phaneuf trade. He never played a game in the Canadian metropolis and was bought out after clearing the weaver. Some fresh news emerged about him today.

A hip surgery is no picnic and we're glad his health his back on track. After all, any player deserves to be healthy and give his best on the ice. However, in Cowen's case, his best wasn't that good to begin with. The huge defenseman was given a 4 years, 12,4M$ deal by the Senators before the team gave up on him. He has the size to play in the NHL, but arguably his game needs a bit of work.

Maybe a team will be interested in the next few days about giving him a fresh shot at the NHL.
