Former teammates and good friends Bobby Ryan and Kyle Turris drop the gloves

In case you missed it, former teammates Bobby Ryan and Kyle Turris dropped the gloves and had a good, old fashioned dust up last night midway through the Ottawa Senators’ 4-3 win over the Nashville Predators.

This is particularly interesting, of course, because the two players were teammates for years in Ottawa, before Turris was shipped to the Preds last season as part of the three way deal to land Matt Duchene. In any case, the two did NOT seem to show any indication that they were teammates or friends last night. Ryan seemed to instigate things after taking exception to some stick work by Turris. The pair roughed each other up for a moment before dropping the gloves and going at it.

Gotta give this one to Ryan… to be honest I’m not even sure if Turris landed a shot or not, he seemed to be off balance for the duration of the fight. Ryan is a big man too and seemed to have no problem standing there and banging away, makes you wonder why he doesn’t bring out this side of his game more often. In any case, while this may not be an instant classic, we encourage more skilled players like this to drop the gloves and enforce the game a little better.
