Former top prospect has KHL contract terminated

KHL club SKA Saint Petersburg have announced that they’ve reached an agreement with former NHL top prospect and KHL leading scorer Steve Moses to terminate his contract.

Moses leaves the team after two seasons and a Gagarin Cup championship this past season. Nashville Predators fans may remember the signing derby to acquire Moses’ NHL rights during the 2015 offseason, an offseason that followed his KHL leading 36 goals and 57 point campaign in 2014-15 for Jokerit. Moses ultimately signed with the Predators but when it was clear that he wasn’t cut out for the NHL and was subsequently sent to the team’s AHL affiliate in Milwaukee, Moses bolted back to the waiting arms of the KHL and signed with SKA.

With Moses’ contract now terminated, he’s technically a UFA without a home, but don’t expect any NHL teams to come sniffing around. “Once bitten, twice shy”, as the old saying goes…
