A journeyman forward in the National Hockey League has hit the waiver wire.

According to a report from TSN insider Bob McKenzie the Pittsburgh Penguins have placed veteran center Greg McKegg on waivers, leaving him open to a claim from a rival team.

Since being drafted by the Maple Leafs in 2010 McKegg has bounced around the NHL playing for the Florida Panthers, Tampa Bay Lightning and the aforementioned Penguins along the way.

This season with the Penguins has been one of his most productive, with McKegg appearing in 26 games and recording 2 goals and 2 assists for 4 points and a plus minus rating of -4.

When you add to that the fact that he is under contract for just $650,000, it seems like a legitimate possibility he could be claimed by a rival NHL franchise.
