It appears that one forward is looking to gamble on himself this season.
While he remains a bottom six forward, it looks like Buffalo Sabres forward Marcus Foligno was expecting a longer term deal and didn't get one he liked or wasn't offered one at all, and now it appears that he will take a risk with his future.
The Buffalo Sabres have signed Foligno to a one year deal worth $2.25 million, the salary he made last season with the organization, but it sounds like Foligno chose to sign his qualifying offer from the Sabres with the hopes of getting a bigger deal next season.
Foligno proved himself a capable depth forward and finished the season on a struggling team with a positive plus minus differential, and he believes those are qualities that will earn him a long term contract in the future. Only time will tell if he gets that multi-year deal next season.
