Four big countries reportedly interested in joining the KHL.

While the Kontinental Hockey League has never been considered a legitimate threat to it's North American counterpart, the National Hockey League, but that could change in the foreseeable future.

According to a report from KHL Insider Aivis Kalnins, there is now significant interest from no less than four additional countries in regards to having a KHL team within their borders. 

Kalnins reports that his sources have informed him that Italy, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Germany have all expressed "serious interest" in joining the Kontinental Hockey League. 

No word on how far along any of these countries are in the process of potentially acquiring a KHL franchise, however if the KHL does move into Europe in a major way it could suddenly become a real threat to the NHL.
