The National Hockey League trade deadline is an exciting time for fans of hockey, but for some of the younger fans of the sport in can also be heartbreaking. Unfortunately for four-year-old Kinley Minner, this trade deadline was a very sad one for her.
Kinley's favorite player is or was former St. Louis blues defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk, she fell in love with his unique name, but this week her father had to break the sad news to her that the Blues made the decision to move Shattenkirk to the Washington Capitals in exchange for Zach Sanford, Brad Malone, and draft picks.
She teared up at the news that he would no longer be a Blue and even went so far as to say that she herself no longer wants to play for the Blues if Shattenkirk is no longer a part of the organization.
Thankfully her dad knew just the right thing to do to cheer her up.
