Free agent Zemgus Girgensons signs multi-year deal.

Latvian sensation Zemgus Girgensons has signed a new deal after playing out his short 1-year deal with the Buffalo Sabres.

On Thursday the Buffalo Sabres announced that they had agreed to terms with Girgensons on a new two-year deal, and furthermore the team announced that it would carry an average annual value of $1.6 million.

The former first round pick is coming off a 75 games season with the Sabres that saw him record 7 goals and 9 assists for a total of 16 points a far cry from his breakout sophomore season that saw him record 30 points in just 61 games.

Zemgus Girgensons however does also bring with him some solid marketing opportunities for the Buffalo Sabres, the 23-year old forward is a huge star in Latvia and brings a ton of eyeballs from that country. 

The man even had a music video made about him that has been viewed over 2 million times.
