NHL insider Elliotte Friedman took on Sportsnet 960 on Friday to discuss the trade rumors that “Bergevin is listening to just about everything,” even possibly moving the face of franchise Carey Price and captain Max Pacioretty

Though some NHL fans might think it is ridiculous to believe that Habs GM Marc Bergevin would move his best players, Friedman thinks Price could demand a trade with everything happening to him and his family in Montreal.

I think with Carey Price, I think there’s a different dynamic at play here,” explained Friedman. “And that is – if you guys know Montreal at all, there is another level to what goes on in Montreal. And that is when things go badly, it doesn’t necessarily become about on-ice, it becomes off-ice. The rumors are crazy in Montreal.

If you told me that Carey Price told the Montreal Canadiens he wants out of there, I would believe it 100 percent. If Carey Price is getting traded, I’m not sure it’s a hockey reason. I think it’s an ‘I’m sick of this B.S.’ reason."

Friedman is shocked that rumours have come to affect Price's family and completely understands if the star goalie wants out of there.

When his wife has to go on Instagram and say everything is okay, I know if that was me I’d be furious. I don’t tag my wife in social media. I don’t ever tweet at her. I don’t want people out there knowing who I’m married to. I just don’t need her getting that stuff.

With Price, if he ever said, ‘I want to go,’ I couldn’t blame him.”

Price is in the final season of his six-year, $39 million contract, which carries a cap hit of $6.5 million and a salary of $7 million. He now has a full no-move clause as part of the eight-year, $84 million extension he signed in July.

Still, he may want out and Friedman understands... But Price did reveal that he is doing just fine with the false rumors. He is ready to go against the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday.
