According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the Arizona Coyotes could have more than Martin Hanzal and Michael Stone to offer as a rental option. "Shane Doan, this is what i understand is going on" said Friedman "He's not going to be [there] forever and they might want to see who else can be the leaders of the team. Maybe they might have to move on but they want to put Shane Doan in a situation where he'd be happy[...] If they go to Shane Doan with a situation where they have a chance to win, he will be willing to consider waiving his no-trade clause. But they know their fans and they know Doan aren't gonna be happy unless it's a good situation for him."

Doan, 40, is carrying a $3.876.134 cap hit but comes trade deadline he won't account for more than $1M on the salary cap. Doan spent all of his career in the Coyotes organization and was there when they moved from Winnipeg to Phoenix. The 'Yotes veteran scored 4 goals and added 8 helpers for 12 points in 42 games so far this season. While he isn't in his prime, he's the kind of guy who could reach out and bring the best out of him during the playoffs as this might very well be his last shot at the Stanley Cup.
