Add another name to the roster in Vegas as George McPhee and the Golden Knights have announced that they’ve selected defensemen Nate Schmidt from the Washington Capitals in the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft.
The draft, currently ongoing as part of the NHL Awards show in Las Vegas, stipulates that teams may only protect a maximum of 10 skaters and 1 goaltender and evidently Schmidt didn’t make the cut for the Capitals.
In 200 career NHL games, he has produced eight goals and 35 points. He put up three goals and 17 points in 60 games in 2016-17.
