We are down to 4.

Last week put to bed a very exciting 2nd round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs after teams like the Colorado Avalanche, Vancouver Canucks, and Philadelphia Flyers made valiant comebacks in their respective series, and now we are moving on to the Western Conference Final and the Eastern Conference Fina. In the West we will see the Las Vegas Golden Knights taking on the Dallas Stars after both those teams went to 7 games and in the Eastern Conference it will be the Tampa Bay Lightning, who made short work of the Boston Bruins in their second round series, and the New York Islanders who themselves are coming off a 7 game series as well.

It should come as no surprise given the limited numbers of teams remaining in the tournament that the National Hockey League's schedule for the Conference Finals is considerably much more relaxed than what we have seen thus far throughout the tournament. A combination of factors including a condensed schedule to start the playoffs as well as protests from the players led to situations where teams were forced to play in back to back games, that will not be the case in these 2 upcoming series.

Every team will have a day's rest between each game and the 2 series will be played out on alternating days, which unfortunately means we are down to just 1 game per day at the most for what remains of the Stanley Cup playoffs. I very much enjoyed the NHL's jam pack schedule of games early in this tournament, although of course I understand that it could never be sustainable.
