The NHL's "bubble" experiment has hit its first official snag.

When the puck dropped on double overtime between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Columbus Blue Jackets at Toronto's Scotiabank Arena, the NHL was forced to make a scheduling change. The Boston Bruins and Carolina Hurricanes were scheduled to begin their series at 8pm ET, but that game will have to be pushed back later in the evening to accommodate not only the game between Tampa and Columbus, but to also allow enough time for the ice surface to restore.

Check it out:

No word yet on when exactly this Bruins and Hurricanes game will be played because... well no one can predict when the Lightning and Blue Jackets game will end. As things currently stand, the Lightning and Blue Jackets are headed to the third overtime frame. The NHL has mandated that they'll need 88 minutes between games in order to not only get the ice ready, but to sanitize the benches, boards and penalty boxes as well.

Stay tuned, Bruins and 'Canes fans. You may want to put a pot of coffee on...
