NBC Sports reports that superstar defenseman Duncan Keith of the Chicago Blackhawks might not be available to start the regular season next month.

Last year, the 33-year-old sustained a knee injury that he is still in the process of rehabilitating, and Blackhawks’ general manager Stan Bowman told the Chicago Tribune:

“He’ll be ready when he is ready. But it’s nothing that we’re alarmed about.”

While the GM sounds confident, Keith was originally supposed to be a part of the Team Canada roster ahead of the World Cup of Hockey which officially begins this upcoming Saturday, September 17th. He was replaced by Jay Bouwmeester and Bowman claims that it was Keith’s decision to forego representing his country in Toronto.

Fortunately, the three-time Stanley Cup winner has begun skating recently.
