All season long one of the biggest needs for National Hockey League teams has been depth at center, and now one National Hockey League general manager has confirmed he will not be re-signing one of his veterans at the position.

The news first broke when a report from Justin Bradford of Penalty Box Radio revealed that veteran forward Paul Gaustad will not be retained by the Nashville Predators when he becomes an unrestricted free agent on July 1st.

Gaustad's point production has been on the decline over the past two seasons, but his physical and aggressive play style is something that will be highly coveted by general managers looking to add depth up the middle, there's almost no question that he could fill la 4th or even 3rd line center role on several NHL clubs even at the advanced age of 34.
