George McPhee has been hard at work this summer finalizing the Golden Knights’ roster in preparation for the 2017-2018 NHL season. While some work remains to be done, namely in regards to the signing of RFA Nate Schmidt, McPhee is optimistic about the team’s future.

“We’re at a manageable number right now. We’re pretty close to where we want to be and we’re comfortable with the roster we have."

The Las Vegas Review-Journal has confirmed that McPhee and his staff are already eyeing the 2018 NHL Draft: they will attend the World Junior Summer showcase and the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament, in which the top U18 prospects will be competing.

McPhee attributes his team’s success to the quality of his staff: “All your success begins and ends with the people you hire [..] we hired some quality people who performed brilliantly. We got high marks from a lot of people and we’re very pleased with how the year went.”

The Golden Knights inaugural season begins on October 10th against the Arizona Coyotes.
