Despite a 2016-2017 season that is already riddled with scrutiny, Detroit Red Wings general manager Ken Holland is being recognized for his outstanding work elsewhere.

The GM received the 2016 William Booth Award by the Salvation Army Eastern Michigan Division. The award was to be presented to Holland on Wednesday night during The Salvation Army’s Annual Civic Awards Dinner, though he could not attend because he was at Madison Square Garden for his club’s matchup against the New York Rangers. However, he did send an acceptance video which the hosts played during the Dinner.

This award is presented “…for individuals who demonstrate outstanding humanitarian efforts within- and service to- the community through the donation of time, expertise and energy,”, according to Lt. Colonel John Turner.

Congratulations to Mr. Ken Holland for his work in the community and for receiving this great honor!
