The Philadelphia Flyers will be without their big, bruising, presence on the blue line.

On Thursday general manager Ron Hextall confirmed that defenseman Radko Gudas would be shut down for the remainder of the National Hockey League season due to injury.

Gudas suffered the injury when he was hit well away from the play by a blatant cheap shot from New Jersey Devil Dalton Prout who received a suspension for his actions.

Hextall did admit that the situation with Gudas would be different if the Flyers were fighting for a playoff spot, but with the team out of contention he will be playing it safe.
