Goalie on the move in Friday trade!

The Toronto Maple Leafs have officially put an end to what in the end will likely be viewed as a failed experiment.

According to an official report from the Maple Leafs, the organization has traded goaltender Jonathan Bernier, who never quite lived up to the hype after being acquired by the Leafs, to the Anaheim Ducks in return for a conditional pick in 2017.

When the Leafs acquired Bernier they had hoped he would eventually take over as the team's starter, but last season he lost the net to goaltender James Reimer. and by that point it was clear that Bernier would never be the Leafs number one goalie.

The Leafs also acquired Frederik Andersen from the Ducks this summer, making Bernier considerably more expandable with the team seemingly securing their goalie of the future. Anaheim now gets a back up on a short-term deal to plug the hole left by Andersen, and for the Leafs they get a clean slate and room to develop their young goaltenders.
